It’s amazing to realise that crowdfunding only came to the UK in October 2012, when Kickstarter launched here, after successfully starting in the US in 2008. In this short period of time it has had an astounding effect on how creative projects are started, financed and promoted.
At The Design Trust we’re very interested in creative business development, from financing projects and businesses to self-promotion and new income streams and ways to start a business.
When I was asked by Emergents Makers in Inverness to host a workshop on crowdfunding during the annual Xpo North Festival I decided to interview a wide range of creatives who have been successful in their pursuit of new opportunities.
