In person art & craft workshops have become very more popular over the past few years as more and more people acknowledge the benefits of making with their hands, learning a new skill and the fun of being off their phones and learning alongside others - in person!

The Art Room, Redruth, Cornwall

The Art Room’s mission is to give everyone the opportunity to get creative in a lovely, welcoming space. They host workshops, parties, art clubs and events and the space is also available to hire.

The Art Room is positioned in a small arcade at the bottom end of Redruth’s main shopping street, so is very central. The space consists of one large room, a small bar, a kitchen and two toilets – one of which is wheelchair friendly. Access is via three small steps on one one side of the door, or a ramp on the other side making it accessible for people with mobility issues. The main area has a painted wooden floor and is furnished with four extendable tables plus a couple of cabinets and a map chest. There is free WiFi and an iMac available with Spotify and a decent speaker for music.

Ashton COurt MAnsion, Bristol

This is a gorgeous venue just outside Britsol City Centre, perfect for one-off events, workshops, gatherings, regular courses or monthly meet-ups. Ashton Court Mansion wants to be a place where the local community can spend time together.

With a range of different spaces available, Ashton Court Mansion can accommodate everything from small groups of 10 all the way up to 200 people.

BROADWAY GALLERY, Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire

The Broadway Gallery, supports and develops a programme of exhibitions, events and educational activities that inspire its local community. It is run by the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, a Community Benefit Society that reinvests the money made from its commercial portfolio back into the town.

The Gallery offers a selection of versatile spaces tailored to meet your hire needs. The Garden City Arts Club is ideal for meetings, or workshops, has step-free access and is in a convenient location adjacent to the kitchenette. The Large Studio can host 60 people and is great for workshops, classes, and family arts sessions, The Small Studio seats 8 comfortably and is ideal for smaller workshops and training.

CHARNEY MANOR, WANTAGE, OXFORDSHIRE

Charney Manor is a beautiful location for half day, full day and residential workshops and conferences. They offer two large, beautiful, and historic rooms; The Solar, is one of the oldest parts of Charney Manor dating back to the 13th century and is located on the first floor of the Manor House. It can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 30 people with chairs and tables that can be arranged to suit the needs your group. Flip charts and audiovisual equipment are also available.

The Converted Barn, is a light and versatile space located on the first floor of a building adjacent to the Manor House and can accommodate up to 45 people. Wi-Fi is available throughout the buildings, and complimentary sweets and bottled water are provided in the conference rooms.

CHILDWALL EMPORIUM, LIVERPOOL

The Childwall Emporium offers an airy and light room especially designed as a workshop classroom space. The space takes up to 16 people comfortably on two very large tables. Situated above the Childwall Emporium's gift shop, it’s a great location to hold craft workshops. There is a kitchen for making hot drinks, toilet facilities, parking to the rear and on the neighbouring streets.

The hire of the room includes the use of the two large tables with built-in power outlets, chairs, WIFI, facilities, advertising and the venues support to help make your event go as smoothly as possible.

Elkstone Studios, Tipi, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

The Elkstone Studios Tipi is a beautiful, rural, multi-functional space located in the heart of the Cotswolds. The Tipi offers flexible space for meetings, events, and workshops with seating for 40 and standing room for 120. The space offers high speed Wi-Fi, a Sonos sound system, and a projector with presentation screen. Electric heaters are provided - if required - and on site parking is easy.

Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency (GCDA), London

For more than 40 years, The GDCA has been helping people reach their full potential through community hubs, free training programmes, enterprise support and food projects. They have a selection of great spaces available for hire across different venues and by booking one of their spaces you are supporting their work in the community.

GREEN HEART VENUE, CHESTERBLADE HILLS, SOMERSET

The Green Heart venue is a beautiful and peaceful off-grid activity space for hire in between Frome and Glastonbury. It's perfect for corporate away days, retreats, workshops, weddings and educational activities. The venue is suitable for groups of up to 45 people and has spectacular views in a rural setting.

The venue is a wooden cabin fully equipped with a camp kitchen, gas stove, mains water, dining and chill out areas, table tennis table & children’s games. There's an outdoor fire amphitheatre, ritual circle and firepit, several outdoor seating areas including a swing bench, flushing toilets, shower, a wooded stream for exploring and footpaths right on its doorstep. Overnight private camping is available on site.

The Loom Shed, Collumpton, Devon

The Loom Shed was born of an idea to create a hub for all textile activities, but also a place to bring the fibre community together. They host regular weaving, knitting and crochet workshops, then each term they have a theme to offer seminars, short courses, talks and sales days.

CLAY SHED, Bristol

Clay Shed is small cooperative ceramic studio running courses and masterclasses. They offer a range of different courses aimed at both beginners and those with experience looking to develop their technical skills and creativity. Clay Shed also invites professional potters and artists to deliver specialist workshops throughout the year.

DESIGNERMAKERS21, DISS, NORFOLK

designermakers21 has become known for it’s unique mix of excellent craft and art, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The Victorian rooms support 9 permanent craft studios, multiple residency studio spaces, gallery shop, a showcase space, and two exhibition/workshop areas. Open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday visitors can meet makers and artists in their open studios, explore exhibitions and galleries, buy unique, handmade work, and take part in a fantastic range of creative workshops.

Devon Weavers Workshop, Totnes, SOUTH DEVON

A centre of excellence for weaving, Devon Weavers Workshop facilitates both traditional and modern techniques, covering all aspects of weaving including rug weaving, inkle weaving, braid making, tapestry and fine, fashion textiles. It offers great equipment, has an engaged membership and offers good parking and clean facilities.

Workshops can run from 10am to 4pm, with tea and coffee provided free of charge. Totnes mainline rail station and bus station are less than 10 minutes away from the workshop by taxi.

manchester design & craft Centre

Housed in a beautiful Victorian-era building in the Northern Quarter, Manchester Design & Craft Centre is home to over 40 independent resident designer-makers with active studio workspaces and regular public workshops.

Space2 is ideal for hosting workshops - has a footprint of approximately 5m x 5m and is fully wheelchair accessible. All walls are painted white and there is a clear area that can be used to project images. The space has a sink with hot and cold water, a refrigerator, electric sockets, electric heaters and an extractor fan. There are blinds on the windows, wireless internet access and a projector. Suggested capacities for workshops is 12 people.

MAKer Heights, Millbrook, Cornwall

Maker Heights offers two different venue options in this beautiful part of Cornwall. The Chapel of Rest is situated in Millbrook Cemetery and is available for community workshops and events. It is currently without any services, so limited to daylight hours and short events but has already hosted concerts and exhibitions. The stained glass on threes sides spreads an enchanting light around the space, which has now been cleared of the pews, giving a large and versatile area for showing and creating.

Room One is The Old Officer’s Mess in the Barrack Block, available for hire; by the hour, half day or day. The 5 x 9 meter room is bright and light with four large windows and a 3.3 meter high ceiling with plenty of plug sockets and a variety of furniture for use if needed.

OXford Summer School, oxford

Oxford Summer School offers a wide range of art and craft courses, personally tutored on-site by experienced professionals. All courses are suitable for a broad range of abilities and experience. The workshops are held at The Oxford Academy in Littlemore, which has parking and is also accessible via public transport. across one week in the summer.

Each artist has to supply their own materials and equipment but the atmosphere is great for the week with a big variety of courses on offer. Everyone is encouraged to visit the other classes during breaks and people come back year after year.

Somerset Rural Life Museum, Glastonbury, Somerset

The Community Learning Room at Somerset Rural Life Museum is a bright contemporary space available for hire to the local community. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors look out on to the central farmyard and the 14th-century Abbey Barn. The room has underfloor heating, kitchen facilities, access to toilets, and users have access to a digital projector, screen, laptop, sound system and hearing loop. Capacity: 60 standing and 40 seated.

WALLACE SPACE, Venues Across London

Wallacespace offers four venue spaces across London in St Pancras, Clerkenwell Green, Spitalfields and Covent Garden. Their bright and flexible spaces can accommodate from 3 - 300 people for meetings, workshops and events. Their pricing is all inclusive - they won't charge for any tech you may need that they already have in house - and includes breakfast and lunch, a range of hot and cold drinks, snacks, stationery, any room turnarounds, laptops, AV and help and support from their friendly, knowledgeable teams.

The Workroom at Love Local, Colchester, Essex

The Workroom is a great spot for creative workshops. A fully private space with access to amenities next door at the shop Love Local. It comfortably seats 8, can seat 10 depending on space needed for activity. Prices include WiFi, free on street parking and the venue helps promote all events.

Love Local provides a space for the creative community to sell their products in an affordable and sustainable way, as well as an opportunity for the public to buy items, in person, that are not found on the High Street.
