2026 The Business Club
the 2026 business club membership
A 12-month, one-stop programme to teach, inspire & encourage new & established professional creatives with fundamental business & marketing skills, and the knowledge & confidence they need to get more sales.
- Do you want to get more sales online or at events, from galleries or interior designers? Is your lack of business & marketing skills holding you back, or even costing you money? Did nobody ever teach you how to price your work or promote your business? (Few art schools do!) You might be a fairly new creative or been in business for many years and still struggle with marketing or pricing.
- Do you dream about a better website, photography, branding, …? Do you wish you knew how to attract the right clients to your selling events or website, not just visitors or followers? Do you want to know how to write better emails or sales pages? To get more email signups or engagement on social media? And how to approach galleries or make the most of craft fairs?
- Do you want to do more marketing, but just don’t know where to start? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Or maybe you have the ‘marketing freeze’ and procrastinate about promoting your products and services? Do you want to learn how to promote yourself in an authentic, creative & more personal, relationship-building way? Not being pushy, but instead rolling-out-the-red-carpet-for-your-ideal-clients to buy, order or commission from you?
- Have you been in business for a while and things are not working as they used to be? More competition, so many (expensive!) events to do, and wholesale is down. Do you need to look at alternative income streams, or focus more on what works? Do you want a regular dose of inspiration to market yourself more creatively & consistently and improve your business?
Managing a successful creative business today takes far more than talent, creative skills and working hard.
Success & sales do not happen by chance. To get sales in 2026 it’s no good just doing a bit of social media at the end of the day, or sending the odd email, or having a website but not driving traffic to it, or showing up at a selling event and hoping you get some sales.
You need business & marketing skills … AND put them into action! It all starts with setting financial goals and having a practical marketing plan, better collections that stand out and that you launch professionally at the right time. It’s about understanding who your ideal clients are and how to reach them, price & present your work professionally, and spend regular time marketing to get actual sales.
That’s an awful lot for a small creative sole trader to deal with!
And that’s exactly why we created the new 2026 The Business Club Membership – a 12-month, one-stop, expert and creative-led learning programme for creative professionals who want to get more sales:
- Gain realistic and honest creative business knowledge from specialists & creative professionals who know what they are talking about
- Learn practical financial & marketing skills that you can implement immediately – easily, quickly and at low cost
- Get a regular dose of inspiration to work on your business & marketing, not just in it
- All with a clear, consistent path of learning and action-taking over 12 months

The Business Club covers ALL the fundamental marketing & business expertise you need – step-by-step, spread out over the year so you can implement your new knowledge as you go along to get more sales.

Most creatives were never taught how to run a business.
And yet, you’re expected to figure out pricing, marketing, selling, finance, websites, wholesale, launches and growth – often alone, often by guessing, winging it a bit (!), ‘learning on the job’, watching a few free videos or reading the odd marketing book. But mostly making expensive mistakes along the way trying to figure it out by yourself.
At The Design Trust, we’ve been working with creative professionals for over 15 years. We’ve seen the same challenges come up again and again:
- Creatives struggling to get sales as they lack fundamental business, marketing & organisational skills to present themselves & their work confidently
- Talented creatives under-valuing and therefore underpricing their work
- Artists, designer and makers working incredibly hard, but not making enough money
- Creatives avoiding marketing because it feels uncomfortable or overwhelming – often due to limited marketing knowledge
- Websites that do not do justice to great work. And often making buying harder than it should be!
- Businesses relying on one sales or marketing channel (often social media) – and panicking when it stops working ‘as it used to do’
The problem is not a lack of creativity or commitment from creatives.
The problem is a lack of specialist but practical & affordable business & marketing training for creative professionals that connects WHAT you create, with YOUR goals, values, finances, your ideal clients, website, branding, consistent creative & personal marketing and the right selling channels for you. With enough time in between to actually implement all of that in your business.
Not generic business advice.
Not ‘talking heads’ and hour long Zoom sessions.
Not one-size-fits-all formulas.
Not unrealistic budgets or hours and hours of time required.
That’s why we created the ‘new’ 2026 Business Club membership…
- Practical skills & real life expertise you can use in your own small creative business – immediately (!) and for years to come. Learn from our hand-picked line up of experts and creatives, not just one voice. There are different ways to run a small business!
- A structured, seasonal & cohesive roadmap to develop your skills and business month-by-month, in the right order, with clarity & purpose, and with actual time in between to implement. From strategy, finance & marketing fundamentals in spring, to creating collections, your website and branding in early summer, to the different sales channels and getting ready to make the most of the busy Christmas season. Learn, be inspired, implement – month-by-month.
- Flexible learning that fits in with your busy life. Access 70+ workshop & interview recordings straight away. The 2 live monthly expert & creative sessions are recorded so you can learn in your own time, at your own pace. Revisit topics when you need them or want a booster.
- Expert training + real life insights and experience from creatives + a safe space to ask questions + accountability = success We do not just provide expert training and access to creative professionals, but you will learn and grow alongside other serious creatives. People who get it. You can ask questions, share challenges, and celebrate wins together.
That’s the difference between learning in isolation and actually growing your business – with the right support, connection and accountability.

how the 2026 business club works
The 4 monthly live Business Club sessions take place Monday – Friday, mostly starting at 1pm or 8pm UK time, sometimes 10am (especially the co-working session at the end of the month), to provide easy access for creatives working part-time or fulltime, or in other time zones.
All sessions take place on Zoom, a well-known and easy-to-use video conferencing tool. You’ll need to register in advance for each session, and you will get a reminder by email to join. During the session you can ask questions live or in the chat. During some workshops and group sessions we will also use the breakout rooms so you can talk and get to know other Business Club members.
Each of the monthly expert & creative sessions is recorded and added to The Business Club Library within one working day, so you can learn around your life and workload – without missing any sessions or falling ‘behind’.
The community and co-working/accountability sessions will be live only (so not recorded). On purpose … to encourage you to participate live with confidentiality, to join in with the conversations and learn together.
We designed The Business Club with these 5 different learning formats to offer a broader range of learning opportunities based on different learning styles, and to learn at your own pace – all from the comfort of your own home or workspace.
For additional accessibility: All recorded sessions have the option to add subtitles in English (with other languages being available too).

how to make the most of the business club membership?
Are you concerned about how much time it will take? Worry that you will need to attend every monthly live session or all the 70 recordings in The Business Club Library to get fantastic value from our Business Club membership? Oh no!!
Your time commitment totally depends on what you want to do & achieve:
- YOU ARE COMMITTING TO GROW: If you are really serious & committed about improving your business & marketing knowledge in 2026 then we recommend that you try to join 2 live sessions each month, and watch 2 recordings. We especially focus on using your new skills in your business for real impact! So, that would be 2-3 hours per week of watching & doing.
- YOU ARE BUSY ALREADY: If you are a busy, more established creative, who wants to get regular or focused marketing inspiration then we recommend that you select 3-4 months or their topics to work on specific aspects of your business & marketing. You can jump straight into The Business Club Library or wait for the live sessions. It’s amazing what you can achieve with a special focus & a bit of time commitment for 3 – 4 months in the year!
- YOU WANT LIGHT-TOUCH INSPIRATION: Need a bit of guidance on what to do and when in your creative business? Join 1 or 2 live sessions each month for inspiration or to get your questions answered, and join the co-working accountability session to implement it in your business. Spend as much or as little time as you like to stay up to date!
what our business club members say …
This is why I love The Business Club. You don’t get this kind of specific targeted help normally, at least not without paying for one-to-one advice. This Expert session will really move me on with how I can use my email list.
Rauni Higson – Silversmith
Very interesting creative interview! So good to hear from an illustrator. I’m wanting to do more blogging, and this covered just about everything.
Joanna Martin – Illustrator
I’ve found it invaluable to be part of The Design Trust’s Business Club. I love the interviews, learning from the experiences of other creatives. The co-working sessions are a great opportunity to connect and feel part of a community while working on my business.
Tania Ashton Jones – Textile Artist
is the 2026 DESIGN TRUST business club for you?
The Business Club is for you if …
- You’re a creative professional selling your own creative products or services (e.g. commissions, teaching) You’ve got a website or Etsy shop, you might (want to) sell at events, in shops or galleries, or (want to) offer bespoke work or teach workshops. Most of our current Business Club members are designer makers, craftspeople, visual artists, illustrators, photographers, designers, or you sell homewares, giftware, stationery, craft kits or art.
- You’ve been selling for at least 18 months and are registered with HMRC (or your tax office). Both part-timers and full-timers are very welcome, and we have creatives from across the UK and international members too. Most of our current Business Club members have been in business for 5 – 10 years.
- You are ready to get serious about improving your business & marketing skills this year, you want to get more sales & orders, you want to get more knowledge & confidence. You want to invest time & a bit of money in your own learning & development – not just hoping somebody will buy from you some day.
The Business Club is probably not a good fit for you if … you are thinking about starting a business, but have not got any products for sale right now; you create products as a a hobby; you’re looking for a quick fix or overnight success; you do not want to think about marketing or selling at all; you expect someone else to ‘do it for you’.
If you have any questions about the suitability of The Business Club then email us on [email protected] and we will give you an honest answer!

Why is The Business Club now a 12-mont membership only?
For the last 12 years The Business Club has been available as a monthly, quarterly and annual membership (and for current members it will continue to be that!) but we believe that if you are serious and want to get more sales then you’ll need to work on different parts of your business e.g. business planning, financial forecasts, costing & pricing, as well as fundamental marketing, website, branding, driving traffic.
We wanted to create a one-stop programme that will cover all these fundamental topics, and provide expert training, group support & accountability for you month-by-month. It’s this whole package that you need if you want to get sales in 2026.
We have created this 12-month learning journey because we want to work with committed creatives who are serious about getting sales and working ON their business, and we want to build a stronger community that supports and inspires each other, with time throughout the year to actually implement your new skills, knowledge and confidence.
We believe this multi-pronged & longer-term approach will make it much more likely that you will get the sales you want & need.
If you miss the deadline to join us by Thu 8 January at 8pm UK time then you can join again in early July.
Why do you need a minimum of 110 members to go ahead?
The Business Club is one of our two flagship programmes, and contributes to the running of The Design Trust, and needs to be financially viable for us to run. Although we are a ‘trust’ we do not receive any grants, and are a small business like you. We simply can not afford to run this at a loss.
These running & overhead costs have dramatically increased in the last 3 years (like for many other small businesses!). Especially our website, security, and design fees, but also we want to be paid and we pay all our speakers too!
As we know the costs involved we know how many members we need, and 110 new or renewing members will get us over this threshold.
The other (very important!) reason is that we want to have a community at every live session, so that there will be 20-40 members joining live, as this is such an important part of what The Business Club offers.
We’re pretty confident that we will get at least 110 creatives joining or renewing their Annual Business Club membership by Thursday 8 January 2026 at 8pm UK time. However, we also have had an unpredictable year, and we know that many of our clients and other creatives are struggling financially.
So, just in case (as we’re always a little cautious), we have put in this minimum membership number.
If do not reach this membership number we will offer you a full refund or other alternative training options (incl. a Business Club Light version) by Friday 16 January.
We have and will always be very transparent and honest with our clients.!
If you have any questions then please get in touch on [email protected]
I haven’t started my business yet. Is The Business Club for me?
The Design Trust works especially with creatives who are in business already, rather than startups.
The Business Club is especially for creative sole traders and business owners who have been in business for 18 months or more, and are beyond the start stage.
The topics we work on in the Business Club do not cover start up topics such as how to start your business legally, costing and pricing or how to start selling, but focus more on growth topics including business planning, marketing, selling online & driving traffic, finance and social media.
We assume you have a website.
Can I watch or share the membership with others?
Sorry, you can’t.
When you join the Business Club it’s for you only and you get a license to access for one person.
If you work in a formal business partnership then you can share it with your business partner, but please do not share with creatives who have not paid for the membership.
If we become aware that you have shared content with others then we will terminate your membership immediately and we will not provide any refunds.
Like you, The Design Trust is a small creative business and the Business Club is based on our 25 years+ experience and that of all the guest speakers and successful creators (we pay all of our speakers by the way!).
It’s full of our and their proprietary knowledge and copyrighted strategies. Please do not share it with others. You wouldn’t like it if others would ‘use’ your ideas either, would you?
If you are an organisation and would like us to develop similar online or in-person training for your audience then do email us on [email protected] Happy to discuss whatever creative business or professional development training you need.
Do you offer any discounts or payment plans?
There is an early bird discount from 2 – 5 January at 2pm UK. Book by then to save money!
Our current Business Club members and 2025 & 2026 Dream Plan Do Festival or VIP Club members get 10% discount. Please use the coupon code in the email when you book.
You can pay in 3 monthly instalments by selecting Paypal Later or Klarna at the checkout.
Do you offer cancellations or refunds?
We offer a short no-quibble-cancellation period until Monday 12 January 2026. You can cancel by emailing us on [email protected] for a full refund.
After this date we do not give any cancellations or refunds, only in exceptional personal circumstances.
If you are unable to attend the live sessions then remember that the expert and creative interviews will be recorded and posted in The Business Club hub within 2 working days.
